About this site

One Day in SF is a small editorial site by a solo founder. It is not a product site. It is the place where I write about the two things that got attention in one day in San Francisco, and about the kind of software I want to build.

The name

I spent one day in San Francisco showing what I build. The interest that followed from investors and potential acquirers was more than the months of building had produced on their own. The lesson was simple enough to put on a domain: one day can change the conversation. The story has the rest.

What I showed

AwaCut is a bulk background remover for macOS, Windows and Linux. You drop a folder of photos and it removes the background from every one of them, on your computer, with nothing uploaded anywhere. awa.games is a set of free puzzle games in the browser: sudoku, minesweeper, nonogram, killer sudoku, and twenty kinds of picture sudoku. I make other things too; these are the two this site is about, because these are the two people asked about that day.

What you will not find here

Names of the people I met, the rooms, the dates and the numbers, including which of the two drew more interest. Those conversations were private and they stay that way. What is public is the products, the decisions behind them, and what I learned.
